Challenge

In collaboration with Tripadvisor, Experience Abu Dhabi needed to create an immersive centerpiece that would both educate and captivate a diverse audience at Jio World Plaza in Mumbai. The challenge was to seamlessly integrate a touch-sensitive, interactive element into a 360° dome projection environment, ensuring robust engagement, intuitive user experience, and a compelling way to highlight Abu Dhabi's global connections and innovative spirit.

The immersive ORA Sphere installation delivered strong and lasting impact throughout the seven-day activation. The experience consistently drew a steady flow of visitors, generating sustained interaction and repeat engagement as audiences explored multiple destinations within the dome.

About "Abu Dhabi is Calling"

Through a global partnership, Tripadvisor’s Wanderlab and Experience Abu Dhabi launched "Abu Dhabi Is Calling," a high-tech immersive activation featuring "Super Reality Domes". By combining Tripadvisor's traveler data with ORA Sphere’s 360-degree cinematic technology, the project transports audiences in cities like Mumbai and New York directly into the heart of the Emirate's landmarks. This collaboration bridges the gap between digital discovery and physical experience, using interactive AI-driven storytelling to inspire immediate travel bookings.

The Challenge

"Abu Dhabi is Calling" sought to deliver an installation that would go beyond passive display to truly immerse and educate visitors at Jio World Plaza. They faced the dual challenge of capturing the attention of a high-volume, multicultural audience and translating Abu Dhabi's dynamic cultural narrative into an interactive, technologically advanced experience. The project required a solution that not only integrated seamlessly with the existing projection dome but also provided hands-on engagement and responsive digital storytelling.

The Solution

After evaluating various interactive display technologies, They selected the ORA Sphere for its sophisticated design, multi-touch interactivity, and proven ability to integrate with 360° projection systems. The ORA Sphere's robust resin construction and capacitive multi-touch surface enabled intuitive user interaction, triggering real-time changes in the dome's projected content. This tactile-digital synergy allowed each visitor's interaction to dynamically influence the visual narrative surrounding the sphere. The activation attracted numerous visitors eager to explore different destinations. By interacting directly with the Sphere, participants could select a landmark or experience, which would then instantly appear inside the dome as a fully immersive 360° projection. This seamless interaction transformed passive viewing into an active journey, placing the audience at the center of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic locations.

The Results

The immersive ORA Sphere installation delivered exceptional results. Over the seven-day event, the experience attracted more than 5,000 visitors, registering over 2,000 unique interaction events. The engagement rate soared to 85%, reflecting the installation's ability to captivate and involve attendees in a meaningful exploration of Abu Dhabi's global connections. The ORA Sphere's integration with the Tripadvisor Dome projection system provided a memorable, multi-sensory journey, enhancing both brand presence and educational impact. The success of this project showcases the power of immersive, interactive technologies to transform public spaces, reinforce cultural narratives, and position destinations as innovative leaders in visitor engagement.
